About us

Raco bean-to-bar chocolate started with a single aim: to make great chocolate right here in Karachi, Pakistan.

Our chocolate comes straight from sustainably and ethically sourced high quality cocoa beans, with no unnecessary additives or processing. Every batch of beans is roasted, cracked, winnowed, ground and tempered at Raco to produce our bars. You can taste the flavour of every origin — just like a great cup of coffee.

Our main ingredient (cocoa beans) can be traced to the farms that they are grown on. Check out one of our main suppliers in Tanzania: Kokoa Kamili. This is a cooperative that pays farmers a premium and ferments their beans to produce a great quality product. It also helps farmers to improve their growing practices.

The other ingredients we use, like sugar and milk powder, are locally sourced. We like to experiment with local, seasonal flavours and inclusions in our limited edition bars as well: a fusion of cultures and palettes in a premium bar of chocolate.

FAQs

When will I receive my order?

We try our best to fulfill orders by the next business day. In unforeseen circumstances, such as rains, it may take up to two days.

If you have not received your order on time please send us a direct message on Instagram or email us at [email protected].

Do you stock at any stores?

Yes! In Karachi, our chocolates are available at Fresh Basket, Evergreen and Serai Concept Store.

In Islamabad you can find Raco at Kayal, and in Lahore we stock at Baked and Dukaan.

What do ‘notes’ mean in the chocolate description?

These are not ingredients in the chocolate. Single origin, bean-to-bar chocolate highlights the natural flavours of the cocoa beans it is made from. Cocoa beans from each plantation have different flavour notes, ranging from classically fudge-like to fruity or even spicy. We develop unique roast profiles to bring out the best flavours in each of our origins. You can read more about tasting cocoa beans here.

What is ‘dark milk’ chocolate?

Dark milk chocolate is milk chocolate with a slightly higher cocoa content than regular or commercial milk chocolate.

Can I place a bulk or custom order for a special occasion?

Please email us your order details and contact information at [email protected]. We will try our best to accommodate you and can come up with customized packaging or stickers if needed.

Why are there white streaks/patches on my chocolate?

Temperature fluctuations can cause your chocolate to ‘bloom’, which means the cocoa butter separates and rises to the surface. As we do not use any preservatives or emulsifiers, keeping the chocolate in a cool, dry and temperature controlled environment is important. However, even bloomed, it is still safe to consume. We recommend warming it slightly to improve the texture if this happens.

If you are unhappy with your chocolate, please do not consume it and contact us for a replacement.

When does the chocolate expire?

There is no set expiry date on chocolate, although it is best consumed fresh. Dark chocolate is good for at least one year. If there is milk present, it should ideally be eaten within 6-9 months. If you are storing your chocolates in the refrigerator, make sure to keep them wrapped and in a sealed container so that they don’t absorb any odours.

Is your chocolate vegan?

Our plain dark chocolate bars are 100% vegan & gluten-friendly. Full ingredient information is available on all our product pages.
